The afterlife handbook
Restrictions, rotating trials, revival paths, and acceptable ghost conduct.
The Afterlife Handbook
The Afterlife is a playable secondary state for players who have run out of lives.
You are not completely out of the game. Instead, you are sent to the Afterlife, where you can choose from several different ways to earn your way back to the living world.
Complete any available return path and you will be resurrected with 5 lives.
Trial availability can rotate over time. The in-game department board is always the authoritative source for what is currently available.
While You're Dead
Life works a little differently in the Afterlife.
Some normal server features are restricted while you are dead, and your main goal is to complete one of the available resurrection paths.
You are free to choose whichever enabled path you prefer. Some are fast but difficult, while others are slower and much more forgiving.
Resurrection Paths
Gathering
Mine and collect materials to work your way toward resurrection.
This path plays similarly to a prison server. Progress comes from gathering the required resources rather than completing a movement challenge.
Best for: Players who want steady, low-pressure progress.
Difficulty: Easy
Speed: Slow to moderate
Parkour
Complete the active parkour course to return to the living world.
Expect jumps, checkpoints, and a course designed to test your movement without requiring combat.
Best for: Players who are comfortable with Minecraft movement.
Difficulty: Moderate
Speed: Moderate to fast
Labyrinth
Find your way through the current maze and reach the exit.
The labyrinth is generally one of the easiest active trials, but it can take a while to navigate. There is always a route out, assuming you can find it.
Best for: Players who prefer exploration and problem solving over difficult movement.
Difficulty: Easy
Speed: Slow
Elytra Course
Fly through the course and pass every required gate.
This is usually the hardest trial, but it is also one of the fastest ways to resurrect if you can complete it cleanly.
Missing gates or crashing may force you to restart your run.
Best for: Confident elytra flyers who want out as quickly as possible.
Difficulty: Hard
Speed: Very fast
Pay for Resurrection
Skip the trials entirely by paying the required resurrection cost.
If you have enough money available, this is the most direct way back.
Best for: Players who would rather spend currency than complete a trial.
Difficulty: None
Speed: Instant
Wait It Out
You can always choose to simply wait.
Once the required waiting period has passed, you can resurrect without completing a challenge or paying.
This is the easiest possible option, but also the slowest.
Best for: Players who are in no rush.
Difficulty: None
Speed: Very slow
Which Path Should I Choose?
| Path | Difficulty | Speed | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gathering | Easy | Slow | Relaxed, steady progression |
| Parkour | Moderate | Moderate/Fast | Movement-focused players |
| Labyrinth | Easy | Slow | Exploration and problem solving |
| Elytra | Hard | Very Fast | Skilled players who want out quickly |
| Pay | None | Instant | Players with money to spare |
| Wait | None | Very Slow | The safest possible option |
Returning to Life
Completing any valid resurrection path returns you to the living world with:
- 5 lives
- Access to the normal server again
- A fresh chance to avoid ending up back here
