Limited Lives Survival Guide

You begin with 5 lives. Deaths caused by another player consume a life. Claims and keep inventory are disabled, while PvP, raiding, stealing, and griefing are allowed. At zero lives, you enter the Afterlife and must complete a trial to return.

A Complete Beginner's Survival Guide to Limited Lives

Welcome to Limited Lives, a survival server with one dangerous twist: you only have a limited number of lives. This guide covers everything you need to know to join the server, understand the life system, protect your belongings, and begin your adventure.

Quick summary: Every player begins with five lives. Once you lose them all, you are sent to the Afterlife and must prove your worth to [REDACTED] to return.

Know Before You Play

  • You begin with 5 lives.
  • Currently, only deaths caused by another player consume a life.
  • Keep inventory is disabled, so any death can still cost you your items.
  • Land claims are unavailable.
  • PvP, raiding, griefing, and stealing are allowed.
  • PvP is disabled at Spawn and in the Afterlife.
  • At zero lives, you are sent to the Afterlife and must complete a trial to return.

Server Information

  • Server address: play.snsmp.org
  • Minecraft version: 26.2
  • Server type: Java Edition; Bedrock support is planned
  • Discord: Join the Limited Lives Discord
  • Rules: [Rules page link]

Before You Join

Before joining, make sure that you:

  • Are using Minecraft version 26.2.
  • Have read the server rules.
  • Consider joining the Discord for announcements and support.

Limited Lives uses a custom resource pack. You must accept it when joining the server. Players who decline the pack will be disconnected and will not be able to play.

If you accidentally decline it, reconnect to the server and select Proceed when prompted.

How to Join

  1. Open Minecraft and select Multiplayer.
  2. Click Add Server.
  3. Enter any name you want in the server-name field.
  4. Enter play.snsmp.org as the server address.
  5. Click Done, select the server, and join.

When you first connect, you will arrive in the lobby. Hold the Nether Star in your hotbar, right-click to open the server chooser, and select Limited Lives.

When you are sent to the Limited Lives server, accept the resource pack to continue.

How Lives Work

Every player begins with 5 lives.

Currently, you lose a life only when you are killed by another player. Deaths caused by boss mobs are planned to consume lives in a future update.

Check your remaining lives at any time with:

/lives

Lives are tied to you alone. No one has discovered a way to steal them—yet.

Additional ways to gain lives have not been discovered. You may need to uncover them while playing.

What Happens at Zero Lives?

When you lose your final life, you are sent to the Afterlife. You remain there until you prove yourself by completing one of its trials. These trials test your worth before [REDACTED], and they may become more difficult after repeated deaths.

For more details, read [How Lives Work].

Your First 10 Minutes

Here is the recommended way to begin:

  1. Read the information displayed at Spawn.
  2. Use /reward to view and claim your starter items and other available rewards.
  3. Check your lives with /lives.
  4. Use /rtp to leave Spawn and choose a world.
  5. Collect food, wood, stone, and basic equipment.
  6. Find a remote, concealed place to build your first shelter.
  7. Set a home with /home set <name>, or open the homes menu with /homes.
  8. Hide your most valuable items somewhere secure.
  9. Decide whether to play alone or join a team.

Beginner tip: Do not immediately enter dangerous areas or fight other players. Learn how the life system works and prepare yourself first.

PvP, Raiding, and Griefing

Limited Lives is a high-risk survival server:

  • Land claims: Unavailable
  • Raiding: Allowed
  • Griefing: Allowed
  • Stealing: Allowed
  • PvP: Allowed everywhere except Spawn and the Afterlife

Important: There are no land-protection systems. The only way to protect your base is to hide and defend it. Anyone—including your teammates—may be able to access your containers and steal your belongings.

Do not assume that rules from another Minecraft server apply here. Read the complete [Server Rules] before interacting with another player's base.

Finding a Place to Build

Use /rtp to leave Spawn. This opens a menu that allows you to choose a world and teleport to a random location.

Random teleportation in the Overworld is free. Teleporting randomly in the Nether or End costs money. Every random teleport has a five-second warmup and a 30-second cooldown.

When choosing a location:

  • Build far away from Spawn and other busy areas.
  • Avoid obvious landmarks and commonly traveled routes.
  • Consider access to food, wood, caves, and transportation.
  • Never reveal your coordinates publicly.
  • Do not store all of your valuables in one obvious location.

Staying Alive

Because lives are limited, ordinary risks can have serious consequences.

New players should:

  • Carry food and suitable equipment.
  • Keep spare armor and tools in a hidden location.
  • Set a safe respawn point and home.
  • Avoid carrying every valuable item they own.
  • Reject unexpected teleport requests.
  • Learn the PvP rules before fighting.
  • Watch their surroundings when leaving protected areas.
  • Remember that even teammates may betray or steal from them.

Essential Commands

CommandPurpose
/rewardView and claim available rewards
/livesCheck your remaining lives
/spawnReturn to Spawn
/rtpRandomly teleport to a selected world
/homesOpen the homes menu
/home <name>Teleport to one of your homes
/tpa <player_name>Request to teleport to another player

Some commands may have cooldowns, costs, or rank requirements.

Teams and Alliances

Any player can create a team for $10,000. Teams can have up to 25 members and allow members to toggle friendly fire, share a bank account, and access other team features.

Create a team with:

/team create <team_name>

Invite another player with:

/team invite <player_name>

Before trusting someone with your base or belongings, remember:

  • Anyone, including a teammate, may be able to access your containers.
  • Friendly fire may be enabled or disabled by the team.
  • Players may leave or betray their teams.
  • Alliances do not necessarily provide mechanical protection.

Support for larger teams is planned for a future update.

Economy and Trading

The server uses dollars ($) as its main currency.

You can earn money by:

  • Selling items
  • Completing milestones
  • Claiming server rewards

Check your balance with /balance or /wallet.

Use /ah to open the auction house and buy or sell items.

Trading tip: Always verify a trade before accepting it. Staff may not replace items lost through an otherwise legitimate trade.

Important Rules

These are only the highlights:

  1. Do not use hacked clients, prohibited mods, or exploits.
  2. Do not harass, threaten, or discriminate against other players.
  3. Do not evade punishments by using alternate accounts.
  4. Follow the server's rules for PvP, raiding, griefing, and stealing.
  5. Report bugs instead of abusing them.
  6. Follow staff instructions during investigations and events.

Read the complete rules at [Rules page link]. The full rules always take priority over this summary.

Deaths, Disconnections, and Bugs

If you die because of a suspected bug:

  1. Record the approximate time and location.
  2. Save any screenshots or video evidence.
  3. Do not repeatedly recreate or exploit the problem.
  4. Open a support ticket through Discord.
  5. Explain what happened clearly and honestly.

Lost items or lives may be restored when staff confirm that an unintended loss resulted from a bug. Restoration is not guaranteed.

Getting Help

If you have a question:

  • Use /help in-game.
  • Ask in the Discord support channel.
  • Open a support ticket for private problems.
  • Use /report to report rule-breaking.

Never share private information, passwords, or account details with anyone claiming to be a staff member. Staff will never ask for this information. At most, they may ask for your in-game username and, when necessary, your Discord name.

Common Beginner Mistakes

Avoid these common problems:

  • Fighting before understanding the life system
  • Building too close to Spawn
  • Forgetting that claims are unavailable
  • Accepting teleport requests from strangers
  • Sharing base coordinates publicly
  • Keeping every valuable item in one place
  • Trusting new teammates too quickly
  • Using an unapproved mod
  • Missing important Discord announcements
  • Assuming staff will restore every lost item or life
